Need help with new iPad

Hi guys,

I’m posting this here first as I feel like this site is almost family as I hang out here daily. I’ve been using a 12.9 first gen iPad Pro with IOS 12.3.1 and its purring like a kitten. However it only has 128gb of storage and I’m out of room almost .. so I just bought a new factory sealed 2nd gen 12.9 with 512gb as I just didn’t have the dough for a 2018 (plus my Apogee Duet won’t work right with a USB C connection at this point still) So of course this new one came with IOS 11, and is only giving me the update IOS option of IOS 13.1.2. I use Korg Microkey Air controllers .. and they are not working with the new IOS, so I know there is a way to upgrade from 11 to 12.3.1 with an unsigned IPSW file .. but I’m just not understanding the process or it’s downsides. Except for mail and the web I use my iPads strictly for music composition, arranging, and production. I’m a piano/organ/synth player by trade of past .. not a programmer type guy .. that part of my brain is hosed :( Is there anyone that could help me do this, I’d be willing to pay .. maybe a Skype session or something .. Tim you knowledgeable on this? Thanks! .............. Chris

Did you ever get it to work?

You can check out the following link, perhaps dropping the unsigned IPSW file into the iTunes upgrade folder, and then updating via iTunes will do it:

I would:

1. Backup the folder first while completely closed out of iTunes, and anything “Apple” running in the background. Obviously, backup your iPad too!
2. Delete any updates already in the folder.
3. Start up iTunes.
4. See if the upgrade is available in iTunes.
5. Refer to the above link if you run into any problems to use a more “creative” solution.

I think this is a solid starting point at the very least.

LMK how you make out.

Best regards,
