Pure Synth® Platinum by MIDIculous LLC

MIDIculous LLC released Pure Synth® Platinum, a massive rompler/synth with a commensurate file size. Fortunately they let you choose to download the sample library as needed, so it could be as light as 3.2GB if you only use factory presets.

There is a truly astounding amount of samples and synthesis going on in here. On top of the 21,619 samples and 108 wavetables, there is also a whole bunch of Impulse Responses from high quality hardware reverb units. Please pay close attention to the hardware requirements at the bottom.

Pure Synth arrives on sale for $10, until the 22nd of June.

Pure Synth® Platinum iTunes Description:

Pure Synth® Platinum is a full-blown rompler/synthesizer for your iOS device. Neither the synth engine or the sample engine is an afterthought: Both engines are fully capable and feature-rich. The romper section contains a well rounded assortment of analog, synth, string, digital, and acoustic instruments. The beauty of Pure Synth® is the ability to mix between the two worlds of analog and sample based instruments. From rich and warm pianos, to lush strings and articulated woodwind sounds, your thirst for real world instruments will be quenched. This is probably one of the most extensive, feature-rich, and preset laden plugins you can get for iOS device. PS: We also have an affinity for 80’s and 90’s digital synths, so look for your favorite old school sounds in there as well.

FREE IAP Schema

When you first purchase, you will have access to all of the analog oscillators. You can use as-is without loading your device with the 6GB sample content, but there will be no presets. Go to the Settings——>IAP section and you will be able to download two sets of IAP

1. Factory Preset Samples - Contains 3.23GB of the samples needed for the presets.
2. Factory Samples Additional Content - Contains 2.7GB of the remaining sample content that is not used in any of the presets

So in the future, when we add additional content and IAP, you are free to delete the sample content to free up your device for other content.

Doug Woods did a demo of the new app. Here's an official promo from Gospel Musicians.

Talk about targeting a section of the “addressable market”. The requirements are much higher than those for full DAWs, so it better be worth it. So it needs to be really snappy when changing patches. And since romplers can be quite limiting in terms of articulations, it really needs to provide good modulation possibilities.

Still, whew!

Just got my second secondhand 9.7" iPad Pro to go from 32GB to 128GB. Much of my reason to move up is that samples and recording can take a lot of space. Since iOS 13 will support USB keys, that made sense to me: I can record directly to the device and offload with USB, as needed. Even then, filling that iPad Pro with apps like these wouldn’t make that much sense. Part of the beauty of iOS musicking is that we can combine multiple sound sources without worrying too much about RAM or storage.
Damn it. These guys keep taking my money. The good news, it’s always been well spent.
The app size is relatively large because of the quality and quantity of the content. If you find these sounds pleasing / inspiring and you're aware that they're a price-fraction of their desktop versions then everything about them is not only worth having but a privilege and a joy to have.

That's a nice demo. That guy from Gospel Musicians sure knows his way around a keyboard. I wish I could play like that.

There are some fascinating choices in that feature list. For one, their inclusion of an impulse response from an Ensoniq ASR-10/DP4 is interesting. Those reverbs are pretty unique, and I remember liking them. Overloud's VKFX is another interesting (and smart) choice. I think they've been around a while.

Hopefully the sample library is worth the space. IK's SampleTank arguably is not.
