Fiddlewax Yellow

Fiddlewax released Fiddlewax Blue in February, and today they have launched Fiddlewax Yellow. This harmony looper is free for the first week!

Fiddlewax Yellow iTunes Description:

Fiddlewax Yellow is a live vocal harmony generator, effects processor, and looper all rolled into one.

Create your own music from the ground up using just your voice and whatever is around you! Realtime harmony lets you create and layer sounds as fast you can think of them. Unleash your imagination and build awesome audio tracks in seconds.

Unlike other pitch shifters which often quantize and auto-tune notes relative to a key, Fiddlewax Yellow builds polyphonic full-spectrum harmonies. Slide and bend the pitch of your voice and Yellow will seamlessly follow along.

Yellow lets you make music whenever the inspiration strikes. You will need headphones to record, though, so be sure to have some handy.

  • Realtime 3-part vocal harmony using our very own super fast, polyphonic, pitch-shifting and audio analysis pipeline. Sing and synthesize new sounds and audio textures on the fly.
  • Built-in effects to add chorus, distortion, reverb, low-pass, and high-pass filters with the push of a button. Quickly transform your voice into other instrument sounds as you play.
  • Synchronized, auto-expanding looper to layer up to 6 audio tracks at once. Easily start/stop any track and clear tracks individually when you want to overwrite/undo.
  • Integrated recording function to save and share songs. Send to other installed apps, attach to email, or download later from iTunes when you sync your device.
  • Low-level core audio implementation makes everything run super fast and robust (built using The Amazing Audio Engine).
  • Headphone-aware control logic reduces the chance of squeaky feedback while you record.
  • Great for all experience levels, from beginners to experts.
  • Precision interface optimized for 10-finger multitouch.

Do not adjust your monitors! Man that color was fucking with me this morning. I was standing up and looking at my monitor from different angles. It does look more yellow from some angles, but most of the time it looks green. I thought maybe my new monitor stand was too high or something. I even took it into Photoshop to see the Red Green Blue values, and it is indeed much more green than yellow. This is Fiddlewax Yellow, and this is Really Yellow.

Indeed, the yellow looks more green when isolated on my desktop, but it was picked specifically with gamma values calibrated from iPad/iPhone tests for a 6-color palette. Sorry for the confusion!

Said differently, it is yellow relative to the other Fiddlewax colors. ;)

If you're curious how the colors were chosen, here's the Munsell Color picker tool we used/made.

I am indeed quite curious! Color gamut stuff is fascinating to me, with so much of our lives presented to us through LCD screens. I'll have to check this out. I knew it looked Yellow on the iPad, which was what was making me freak out when my desktop monitor was showing me green.

Gotta say, I already have a buttload of loopers but this one stands out for how fun and musical it is as well as sounding pretty good. Kudos.

I went to buy Fiddlewax Blue here in the US of A and = drum roll = the sale ended when April ended.

It is still April in Hawaii (10:36 PM), but the iTunes store is not aware of that = perhaps I should enlighten them.

Just saying

They say green is yellow, and now I read Obama is in favour of the death penalty. This is all getting too weird.

I used to call that color "Chartreuse". From now on I'll be refering to it as "Fiddlewax Yellow" : )

So who is the other "Brian" getting all political two statements above me?

May 01, 2014  | person_outline Brian

And since when was Obama against the death penalty?

(First Brian is British cause he spells "favor" wrong)

May 01, 2014  | person_outline Zymos

Ah good detective work there Zymos. I thought there was a plot to oust me off this blog

May 01, 2014  | person_outline Brian

To Zymos: re Obama - from today's Guardian about that botched execution: "In Washington, Jay Carney, the White House spokesman, said that while President Barack Obama believed the evidence showed that capital punishment was not an effective deterrent to crime, some acts were so heinous as to merit the death penalty."

I couldn't believe it either.
