Musikmesse 2013: Behringer iStudio i202

Originally debuted at NAMM a year ago the iStudio i202, Behringer's answer to the Alesis iO Dock, was once again shown at Musikmesse. Nearly no one took notice of this though, and we only now have video of it from Djkit.TV several weeks later!

At the end of the video the Behringer rep claims that the i202 is finally shipping now, but I'm not sure where they are shipping to because I can't find them anywhere. zZsounds is the only site that even lists it, and that is still just for pre-orders.

It's a shame this wasn't released last year as I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately for them I wonder if it's too late for it now. I bought two iO docks instead and will be buying the iConnectMIDI 4+ when that comes out.
The market for this has shrunk considerably.

So, if someone has a newer iPad (I'm saving my pennies to upgrade from an iPad2), how does one go about using something like this? Can you stick the 30-pin to Lightning connector in the dock and have the new iPad hang out of the right hand side a little?

UPS delivered it to me today from Thomann Germany. First impressions positive except ( with audio so far):
Guitar Tone , StompBox and AmpKit are not supported -at least I can' t get them work
JamUpPro, Garageband and Amplitube, Auria and Cubasis work fine.

HA!! Classic... I was sitting here waiting to hear what he could POSSIBLY have to say about the wholly fictional "video out" jack. Didn't even bring it up cause even he knows it's a complete crock, just like the one on the Alesis io Dock. And no mention of A/D conversion rates.

"Then.. very important for DJ's, I guess... midi connections." Oh well, I'll keep limping along with io Dock until at least ONE hardware developer decides to stop wasting plastic and do something right, or even half right. I have high hopes for the iConnect Midi.

"...Can you stick the 30-pin to Lightning connector in the dock and have the new iPad hang out of the right hand side a little?..."

Yes. It works fine.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine why on earth, when someone at both companies said "What do you reckon, shall we include video out?", someone else said "That's a great idea, let's make it composite!" they must not have understood the sarcasm when the people in charge said "Oh right, composite - the standard used by professionals everywhere, you mean?".

I use the MIDI Din connectors all the time though, they're very useful - and I'm not, nor shall I ever be, a DJ.

On a side note, I use an Apple 30 pin to lightning connector (as it also supports analog and USB audio out) to connect my iPad 4 to my iO dock, and as Steve said, it works fine - although the need rarely arises as I have 3 other iPads with the 30 pin connectors.

And yes, I'm content with my greedy nature!

Amazing, someone actually got one! I still don't see it for sale anywhere - everything's a pre-order. Strange to announce a product more than a year in advance, but I guess they don't have to worry about competition besides Alesis. Still no iConnectMidi4+ either...

As Panic software and others have discovered, Apple's Lightning HDMI adapter has an ARM-based computer inside it, making it both complicated and expensive, but it's too bad that Behringer couldn't include one - or another lightning port - in that version of the iStudio.

according to the people I have contacted at Behringer, they have shipped and will be available at the end of may to purchase. mind you they started shipping back in march. I don't see how it takes 2 months to get to stores or over a year and a half from when they first announced it. I am also under the impression that they have two models, one with the lightning adapter and one with the 30 pin.

Concerning the lightning version, they told me on Mark Zuckenberg site it had no release date planned so far. The which could let us fairly hope to find that model in over a year and a half, I guess.
