Studio Live Today: AeroBand PocketDrum - Air Drums for iOS

YouTuber Pete Johns plays around with the Pocket Drum. The app seems pretty shitty in its visualization, but the latency seems fine. It is worth noting that the AeroBand device does not offer MIDI, making this an expensive toy. They have a new Pocketdrum 2 on Indiegogo, but again it is not intended for use with MIDI. There is an alternative for desktops that is in a similar price-range and includes MIDI.

Video Description:

Pocketdrum by AeroBand is a complete drum kit for your mobile device... minus the actual drums. Ever wanted to play air drums that actually rock? This is how you do it.

🙏 Thanks to AeroBand for providing the Pocketdrum for me to test out. Check the links below for details about the current Pocketdrum, as well as information about their brand new Pocketdrum 2.

Nice intro vid.

Aerodrums (a different product and company) has been around for over six years. It seems pretty dodgy that Aeroband steals the idea AND the name. Granted this product uses a different method to achieve it's result.

Shouldn't Aeroband's founders have done some research to see what other products were on the market? And the brand names associated with them? Ming-bogglingly stupid.

I'll link it here:

As an aside, I have a student who recently picked up a used Aerodrums set. Apart from having a bright light in your face, he likes them. The tracking seems ridiculously good. He lives in a tiny appt. and his spouse can coexist while he practices drums.
