Apparently this species is quite the little adaptive-learner. So, their songs change with their environment. They even seem to be singing louder than their rustic relatives to overcome the noisy cityscape. My guess is Nightingales do not appreciate being whacked with a conductor's baton.

@PB: Based on exhaustive research I've concluded birds don't mind a stick-beating as long as they are the ones holding the stick.

Birds beating stuff with sticks and liking it (or why would they do it?). Like us, pretty much everything they do, probably has something to do with getting or having more sex:

Humans are probably the only species that like it the other way around, that is, getting beaten with a stick. Doubtless, the determined 'researcher' will find evidence in the form of countless unforced submissions to pornhub and craigslist classifieds.
