Every time we see a tease of a shiny new subtractive or a shiny new update, I wonder about all the synths I already have, and what, if anything, is new?

There are so many subtractive synths for iOS, feature sets and quality are all over the place. Many of them are surprisingly effective given their tiny prices. How easy it would be to take, say, the top 20 (30? 50?) and boil them down to lists of their strengths and weaknesses. Or perhaps have a little award system for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for a few categories like:
Best Overall Analog Emulation
Most Versatile Workhorse
Snappiest Modulation
Best Realtime Control Implementation
Best Built-in Effects
Best GUI

I think it would be easy to leave aside the various differences in character and tone, as those are often very personal-- as long as the basic sound is satisfying.

An enhanced feature-set list could be posted with things like:
mod scan rate
14-bit CC capability
receives/produces polyphonic-aftertouch data
envelopes have segment curves

Those questions go beyond the scope of many app store feature lists.

MPE! (So, yes, poly-aftertouch is a given. As is per-note modulation.)
Now, if it’s not AUv3, we have a problem. Let’s just hope we don’t have that problem.

LOL! I doubt we'll have a problem.
