Guitar Rack by TC-Helicon

TC-Helicon released Guitar Rack as an all-in-one guitar app with effects, amps and cab sims. The app is free, but to unlock all of the goodies you'll need to hook up a $30 GO Guitar, or the unreleased GO Guitar Pro.

I just read Dreyer's English: An Utterly Correct Guide to Clarity and Style, in an effort to be my own copy editor. I'm now keenly aware of inconsistencies, and TC-Helicon's branding is throwing me for a fucking loop. They are TC-Helicon on the App Store, but in their own app description they're TC Helicon.

Their domain name is TC-Helicon.com, but the website's logo is sans hyphen!

no AUv3, no IR loader, tied to a headphone jack interface. Kind of a joke at this point. The only reason to use this over Bias is price, but you get what you pay for.

It is AUv3. You will find it in the list of AU effects. But it isn’t very stable yet and already crashed after 30 seconds of tweaking some settings. A bit annoying that unlocking the app is tight to hooking up their hardware. Not planning on buying their interface since i already own other interfaces for my guitar. So far i am not very much impressed with the presets of the free version. Bias definitely sounds a lot better. Still cool to see another stomp/amp sim joins the market. Hope they will keep improving this app or offering additional ways to unlock the full app.

Yay, more software intended merely to sell short-lived hardware. Seeing the report above about crashing is even more typical of these things. I’m so sick of mindless capitalism. No one wants to make anything complete, that lasts, or is anything other than a tool to get people to subscribe to something or repeatedly buy the same thing over and over.

I stand corrected about AU, that's not mentioned in the article and it seems like a big feature given that none of the big names in this space on iOS offer that yet. But the other complaints are still valid. I'm still waiting for the holy grail of iOS guitar apps, I wonder if we'll ever get it or if too many companies are afraid of undercutting their desktop/dedicated hardware offerings.

So it’s not just in hardware that Behringer’s TC Helicon… “gets inspiration from” IK Multimedia? They should come out with the fully analog Primo Synth and a Model Drum plugin…

You can unlock it by plugging in a voicelive touch as well as some other tc helicon hardware.

Pretty tough competition to take on there, TC. And I need special hardware to use it, tying up my lightning connector!? For what?! Pass.
