Mike from Expanding Sound did a track using just the the new Sega and TAITO gadgets, while sneaking in a humble brag about owning the original Out Run arcade machine! I am so jealous. I loved the hell out of that game. Violent video games have yet to make me shoot anyone (or anything that wasn't clay or paper). However, because I learned to drive on Out Run, it is probably responsible for my "enthusiastic" driving today.
As usual Korg Gadget gives me something fun to play with. There is an abundant amount of iPad music creation software on the market today. Gadget is easily my favorite. Korg has recently released two new Gadgets for the software, Otorii and Ebina, created in collaboration with Sega and Taito. Otorii is a drum machine using sega sounds and effects. I actually own an Out Run arcade machine as well as an After Burner, so being able to play with some of the drum sounds and effects from those games is very fun. Ebina is a Taito collaboration. It is set up as a more traditional video game synth. Chip tunes as well as pads are easily created with Ebina's sound palette. I used an iPad pro, 2017 edition to create my jam with a keyboard midi controller. I Wanted to make something that had a video game feel to it. Hope you enjoy!
