Drop Beats by Omar Abdelwahed

Omar Abdelwahed, who appears to be the one guy using Tumblr for anything other than porn, released Drop Beats last summer. This is a new Audiobus compatible app for streaming your music to the Internet. It arrived with a pretty steep $9 monthly fee to actually do any of that though.

Today's update lets you use the app for free on shared servers.

Drop Beats iTunes Description:

Live stream your beats from compatible Audiobus apps or musical instruments connected to the audio port of your iPhone or iPad. Create original music and perform live to your audience through a shareable web URL. Live music performances can happen right now from your iOS device.

Create a beat. Drop a beat. Drop Beats.

- Stream for free from a shared pool of servers.
- Purchase a subscription for a dedicated stream.
- "Go Live" with your stream with one tap of a button.
- Virtual earth displays your streams for others to discover.
- Spin the globe to discover other music around the world.
- Compatible with Audiobus so you can share your original content from the music apps you love.

Note: "Go Live" streaming requires a monthly "Go Live" subscription. A subscription purchase will be applied to your iTunes account on confirmation. Your subscription will automatically renew for $8.99 unless canceled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime with your iTunes account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial will be forfeited if you purchase a subscription.

For all I do know about music production, I don’t know shit about streaming. Perhaps I have some homework to do.

Fair point... I really need to stop using Tumblr. ;) Thanks for the review, Tim! Indeed, streaming is now free with a shared set of servers in the new app. I'll be adding more features, free and paid, in the future. - Omar
