Fugue Machine / PolyPhase (Beta) Live Jam

YouTuber ajp is in the beta for PolyPhase, a new sequencer app designed for use with both hardware and other apps. In this jam ajp is using it with quite a few other apps! Goddamn, that is a long list.

Video Description:

This is a slow build... give it time....

Live performance using Fugue Machine and PolyPhase (note: this is the 1st beta of PolyPhase. There have been several UI and functionality improvements since).

Both are playing instruments directly as well as triggering StepPolyArp Unit, Rozeta instances and Mersenne's arpeggiator for additional variation.

Sound sources are iGrand, iSEM, Quanta, SpaceCraft, Laplace and Mersenne.
Effects include DLYM, Reverb - FDN, Discord4 and RE-1.
Hosted in Audiobus and AUM.

Is PolyPhase the one that appears at 1:15?

Looks like it plays tracks with different step lengths. Maybe the % is for note duration, and you have the number of steps and normal note values for the step rate. I also see a setting for phase (start-time relative to measure cycle)-- I would guess.

Yes, you first see it at 1:15. There’s an open beta for the app here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/hUupoCpU

It was updated the day I posted this (I cleared posting the video with the dev) and now has better harmonic selection amongst other improvements.

It works by having the main (top) track generate notes based on its settings. The lower 3 tracks are fed this output and accept those notes based on their settings.

Honestly, I’m not using the app “right” for the bulk of the track; mainly I’m using it as a multi channel fixed sequencer. Only at the end, during the denouement, do I turn on the generative aspect of PolyPhase to get Quanta and Mersenne moving around more as a contrast with the rest of the instruments that are breaking down and becoming more sparse.

As Tim will attest, I always want to know about step rates (i.e., what rates are available). If it's just standard binary values, dotted values, and triplets, I usually pass.
