MusicMan4Christ dusted off MidiBand for a stress test as a One Man Band. The app hasn't been updated, or thought about by me, since 2015. Yet here it seems to be running fine on iOS 11! Here he runs 8 MIDI channels into SampleTank and an elaborate AUM session. There are some great details in the description.
In this video I’m demonstrating the awesome power of MidiBand 3.1. This awesome One Man Band app, created by Kateryna Sharayeva, is an incredible way to turn your iPhone or iPad into a full blown Arranger Workstation! Doing this, can save you hundreds and even thousands of dollars.
Even better, it can save your back by not having to carry around such heave Arranger keyboard workstations.
So in the video, i show how stable MidiBand is in sending up to 8 channels of midi data to SampleTank 2 which now allows it to receive up to 8 channels of midi data by separate midi channel and allows you to assign different instruments to each. This is so awesome because it allows you to have a full backing band being driving in realtime by MidiBand.
Please note: At 4:18 into the video I show how MidiBand’s sequencer recorded the entire performance which can be exported as a midi file to load up Cubasis, Auria Pro, or BM3. It actually also allows for tweaking the mixer , muting channels as shown, and other cool stuff!
I have in the video also show how incredibly easy it is to control MidiBand from Navichord which is an amazing Chord app, allowing you to use the pads in Navichord to select your custom chord progression or in real-time select the chords you want MidiBand to play and accompany to.
The neat thing about Navichord is that the built in screen keyboard allows you to send midi via a separate midi channel, thus allowing you to use it to tell MidiBand in Midi Channel 2 to change sections, so you can change variations, fills, intros, endings! You get me, this thing is super awesome!
SampleTank is being hosted in AUM the most incredible IOS mixer ever! Which in turn has DDMF EQ, DDMF Limiter and EOS2 Reverb from Audio Damage.
To me, this is the most amazing part, I can take my iPad and make music anywhere, and anytime. And with MidiBand 3.1, you can have a whole backing band help you write a song in minutes, not hours or days, even months!
Is it perfect? Nope, it needs some midi updates, and a way to allow it to remote start, which I haven’t been able to figure how to do. But, hopefully the developer has it in her heart to update this ultra awesome app again.
For all those folks out there, give this app a chance, it will cost you no more than a good cup of coffee, wow, how awesome is that.
I highly recommend this app!
