GarageBand v2.3 Update

Apple released an update to GarageBand! Today's update adds iPhone X screen support, several new traditional Chinese and Japanese instruments, as well as a new Beat Sequencer!

This Beat Sequencer will probably get the most use, as it allows x0x style drum sequencing!

What's new in GarageBand v2.3:

• Updated for Super Retina display on iPhone X
• Use the new Sound Library to download additional free instruments, loops and sound packs
• Adds 3 Drummers who play percussion in the styles of Pop, Songwriter, and Latin*
• Play and record using traditional instruments from China and Japan, including the Guzheng, Koto and Taiko drums*
• Build grooves inspired by classic electronic drum machines with the Beat Sequencer
• Support for expanded sharing and storage options with the Files app in iOS 11
• Enables a larger Audio Unit Extensions view for compatible third-party instruments and effects
• Recording, mixing and exporting a song can be done at 24-bit audio resolution
• Includes iMessage sticker pack that adds GarageBand instrument icons
• Provides stability improvements and bug fixes

* Requires free download from GarageBand Sound Library

Ios 11 required?
Another cheap trick to try to convince you to buy new hardware/upgrade even though the app would probably run smoothly on even a really old ios..
Look out for these kinds of apps audio community;)

I want Alchemy to be a full-featured synth again!

Me too Jack. It's so bizarre they added quasi Alchemy (after engulfing the company -- remember how camel audio mysteriously disappeared?) and features like Chinese Instruments to GB before they added basic file management. Still couldn't store projects in a folder last I checked it.

Oh, iOS 11 required... as if I want to slow down my devices...

Yah, its amazing how adding new emojis can slow a system down that much :p

Seems to be the same obvious trick that Apple has been pulling before..., trying to suck ppl into 'upgrading' to the latest iOS by offering new features to GB that are not available to older systems.
Thanks, but i'll pass.

Very funny - huge praise on the AudioBus forum and lots of negatives here... I don't know what to think :-)

I wouldnt consider people sharing personal experiences and findings as negative...

But, if you somewhat feel that this is a 'negative' thread, and you feel that The AB thread is positive, then you get both sides of the coin - which- should be a very positive way of looking at this.

So, you have all sides of 'opinions'

Now its up to you to think for yourself and make a choice that suits you;)

Alot of folks are mad about alchemy, but alchemy is better now in LPX than it ever was(plus Apple gave Logic Pro users a HUGE library for free & LPX costs less than Camel Audio Alchemy did)...and it uses way less CPU. I actually think the new sounds library addition to Garageband mobile is great as it signals the upcoming addition of more patches for alchemy, instruments, and loops. All this in a free app (i actually had to pay 5 bucks) I just dont think thats a bad deal...I love the update, bring on the sounds! Besides finishing gb mobile projects in LPX is great! Now if i can just get my user alchemy sounds in the ipad!!! oh well HOPE!
****I also wanted to note, that for about 2 hours before I erased alchemy mobile and every library for it...who even knows what I spent? I was exporting my creations I had ...and suddenly realized why I didnt use it much anyways...the export on camel audio alchemy has always been noisy and lo-fi in a bad way...which is odd as the exported wavs are so low and have to be normalized everytime and are always loaded with artifacts not in the original sounds...what good is something that exports with such bad sound quality? I erased it and moved on...a good dinner at a nice restaurant costs a similar price, and I dont get to...nor would I want to keep it forever. I've bought $20,000 cars that didnt last as long.

Is there a way with this update to delete all stock (useless) loops without a jailbreak?

I was being tongue-in-cheek about now knowing what to think, hence the smiley at the endof the sentence.
