BeatMaker 3 by INTUA

Today INTUA released BeatMaker 3! This long awaited sequel dramatically modernizes the classic app to a full-fledged DAW. While every part of the app has been revamped, the biggest new feature in here is fully-integrated AUv3 support.

The original BeatMaker 2 was released on iPhone, and didn't gain iPad support until about a year and a half after the iPad 1 launch. BeatMaker 3 has launched as an iPad only app. Here's hoping it will be Universal someday!

No midi note editing/piano roll for the au/iaa instruments?
July 15, 2017  | person_outline Fleinsnopp
Yes there is midi note editing for AU etc

Once u add an AU instrument...push the (x) top left, then hit the sequencer icon on the left side, once in sequence there's a tiny keyboard icon on right hand top of Seq window.

Great, thank's for the information.
There was no videos demonstrating this feature.

Time Sigs? Grid Settings? Tuplets?

Could someone who has bought it check and see what list/range of settings are available for:

1. time signature
2. quantization grid size (values, tuplets)
3. edit snap grid size

Also, can time sig and tempo change throughout a sequence? Does quantize have a percentage?
I too was refreshing store page until it suddenly appeared for me in UK.

I haz no experience of beatmaker at all. I only purchased 3 because of the hype and features. Recording automation on AU plugin is a big feature lacking from cubasis. I work best with scene/clip as in gadget style so that was another reason for me to buy beatmaker 3.

Being unfamiliar with all of the beatmakers i have to set about learning it.

There is really no possibility for more than 8 tracks, I mean 1 per pad banks.
We cannot create a track dedicated to IAA? right ?

If I understand correctly, you CAN have more than 8 but with a catch...you have to set-up new bm3 audio tracks that receive audio from the IAA pad banks. You perform/sequence the pad bank track (audiobus iaa, AUv3) and record it to the audio track. You can have far more than 8 IAA tracks BUT you are stuck only keeping the audio after you hit 8 pad bank tracks and you want to change out plugins.

I may be missing something, but in BM2 I could just select audiobus as the input direct into an audio track and record each track one at a time with different audiobus scenes... but I can't seem to do that in the same direct way in bm3. I hope this is fixable because it definitely slows my workflow big time.

Thank you for your answer.

Yes that's my understanding too, I can have as many audio track that I want, and so sample my IAA sequenced from 1 of the 8 pad bank track. But I cannot have 1 midi track per IAA (or just 8 but without anumore a real pad bank).

To me it sound like this is not a DAW, but a groovebox .... and it changes everything, meaning I can't really use BM3 as my main sequencer.

It's a real deception, I hope there will be midi track dedicated to ext hardware and IAA in next update, I feel like I have been stolen today .... again ... as too ofen with iOS apps.

It's a very nice groovebox, but not a DAW. :(

As far as tracks go, each pad 8x128 is a full fledged (sampler/plug instrument) with its own piano roll etc, and then there are audio tracks and bank tracks.

I believe there will be more bank tracks in the future updates from what I've read.

It's kind of like everyone getting hung up on the scene launcher...there are three areas in the sequencer pattern, scene, or song...with the last one being a linear song mode.

I believe the problem lies in the fact that the launch instruments are bank instruments instead of pad instruments using pad tracks...but just like in beathawk, each pad is a full instrument and has its own piano roll sequencer.

Yes you can change the time signature to say 5/4, 3/2...whatever you want
Yes the grid goes to 64ths or can be off as well (real feel, no snap)
Yes there is normal, triplet, and dotted
July 17, 2017  | person Heretik7
Thanks, @Heretik7. That was me (stub). Just a couple more, if you don't mind.

So when you set the time signature, what is the range of values for the top number?
I assume the bottom number can be 2, 4, 8 (16?)
Does the grid have triplets?

Is there a quantize function? And what values does it support.
Yes there is quantize, and it supports to 1/64
And there is swing

Time signatures 2/4 to 19/4
The bottom number stays 4, unless I'm holding my mouth wrong
Hope this helps

Can someone please ease my concerns about whether we have eq for each channel or not?
