discchord: Apps for Cats!

Following the poor showing by you guys to sponsor my Patreon campaign, I've decided music apps are too small a niche to support a business. To reach a larger audience I've had to take drastic action and rebrand the site, effective immediately.

discchord: Apps for Cats!

Thousands of people may enjoy music apps, but literally millions of people are owned by cats! Thanks to Apple's aggressive forced obsolescence there are also millions of, now redundant, iPads that people won't mind letting their cats scratch at.

The Internet has strongly promoted cat ownership over the last decade. With more and more people owning cats every day, I feel confident that the market for dedicated cat apps will be a major growth sector for years to come.

This is the direction I'd always hoped you'd go Tim, but was afraid of being ridiculed for suggesting it.

Viva los gatos!

During my daily YouTube dive to find new videos, I came across a video of a cat playing with an iPad... and then this idea for an April Fools joke hit me. This was April 13th, last year. I've been collecting cat iPad videos all year to do this today! What a long wait!

Cats are OK, but I'd really rather see a ton of My Little Pony dub step!

This is the most logical idea that I have seen on the interwebs this year (April fools or not...).

@Patrick - don't we have EarHoof for that now? ;-) Also I'm sure the Little Pony would love to be your iPad friend :-D

My cat supports in app purchases but still not audiobus.

Ah cats - nice. Can us Lurchers have a cat app so we can chase them? Made me think of the mouse organ on Monty Python. There's a whole world of possibilities opening up!

I was OK with this until I came home early one day and my cat was watching some kitty porn... now he is in the animal shelter serving his time ;)

Apple ran out of Cats !! Dogs are next in line for the next operating system. First in line will be Alsatians 1 :)

April 01, 2014  | person_outline Medo

Sounds cat-astrophic!

"drop the mouse and make music with cats" classic.

this site would be huge.

Tim your site is known for being the first iOS site to tell the truth about iOS apps, if I was you I would base my patreon campaign on that and if you ever really rebrand the site I'd capitalize on that as well. There's been way too much 'it only cost you a cup-o-joe / latte/ a pint/ ' talk in the ios community as a whole, it doesn't benefit anybody imho, developers like Jonatan L of Kymatica should be celebrated and the less scrupulous to downright predatory developers should be held to the flame in the most courteous way as possible of course lol !!!
Everyone be they developer or app user and musicians would benefit................just sayin

I try to do both still... There's just less worthy targets for my saber rattling these days.

I can't even remember my last good rant; other than a few jabs at Vio recently, before they finally got updated to support the Audiobus effect slot. Hell even Tabletop, the first to inspire my ire, has been great since they went freemium and started offering fair bundles. Developers. and the music app market as a whole, have matured a lot.

I thought I was fairly celebrating the good ones too! That is kind of the idea of the Let's Plays. They're an opportunity to highlight stuff I like.

please tell me all these pussies have been declawed

@Mr. Wonderful - are you thinking of something in particular where you got burned? I guess I don't feel like there's too much of that out there. IE no one is holding a gun to my head and making me buy apps (even at low prices), and I've seen very few examples where the App Store description flat out lied or were intentionally misleading about the capabilities.

Maybe I've just been lucky and missed some really bad offenders though.
