Philips has announced the M1X-DJ, a DJ controller dock with built-in 80-Watt speakers, Lightning connector, and Bluetooth.
I really like this design. It doesn't look like a cheap toy, and it isn't trying to be a Professional DJ-booth-in-a-box. This looks like it would be a great all-in-one DJ setup for house parties though.
The marketing material heavily emphasizes its use with Algoriddim Djay 2, with some conflicting information on whether it will work with other apps. My only contact with Algoriddim is a third-party PR company, so inquiries about exclusivity were not immediately returned. I'll update this post if I hear anything.
Update: I heard back about the compatibility. It is just using MIDI, so this will work with other apps, but works out of the box with Djay. The very nice PR lady who gave me a free copy of Djay 2 would like for me to emphasize that it is, "Highly mapped to work specifically with Djay."
The M1X-DJ should be available in November of this year, with an MSRP of €399. The US price has not been released. The exchange rate puts that at over $500, but typically the MSRP between the US Dollar and Euro are much closer.
Here is a minute and a half long video, that spends the first minute slobbering all over Armin van Buuren's ass, before settling down and showing us a brief view of the new device.
