This is very interesting, a substantial lag on the processing (I tried it with GlitchBreaks) as would be expected, so difficult to use in a conventional sense re. timing, recording a bar into Loopy simply didn't work even though Glitchbreaks was tied to Loopy's clock! But the possibilities of the sound generation are extraordinary! I would imagine it will take a bit of patience to work out how to record this into a usable format, it's pretty much going to involve recording a few bars and then editing, but yes!! Huge potential!

Any ideas on how to manage the timing? Maybe I just ask too much of it :)

How does this compare to iPulsaret which also sits in the effects slot? I really need to master this range of apps :-(

Trueyorky good question i cant seem to get alot out of ipulsaret in effects slot & midi settings for these synths frustrate me, i will go away & see if this app brings full granular effects from input slot

Oh crumbs... I wish I could come up with a sensible answer to this one, it's a very good question!

They're different! I can say that much...

I don't know, grain synthesis has such huge variability depending on what your source is. I've never felt as though I've 'mastered' it, because it behaves so differently every single time I use it. In terms of functionality, there isn't that much to it, it's more a case of exploring than anything else :)

Maybe someone else can help?

@andre, keep playing, trying lots of different sound sources! There's tons to be had out of these... just requires a bit of patience and persistence, I fully understand where you're coming from though, it took me a while before I realised how sensitive it is and that there's usually something to be found, it just might take a little while!

Some hints:

Take all the random functions right down to start with.
Drop the grain amplitude down to about 0.300 so you don't kill your ears! Turn it up if you hear something interesting, but drop it back down again before adjusting other controls.

Grain density around 11 or 12
Grain length 200 or so

and if you've got something playing in the input slot you should be able to explore from there!

Don't miss the excellent Grain Glisson Sweep at the top!

Ive got ifunbox playing into it & im getting alot more from this than i did from ipulsaret, you press initualive live buffer & the play button & then you can use all idensity tweaks so i think this is the best for effects slot that ive managed from the 2.

Thanks Baddcr i noticed ipulsaret in effects seemed very tame but i will go back & try harder but i would still say if you want really powerful granular effects straightaway go for idensity

Thanks guys I will give it another go.

Trueyorky ive just noticed all you need to do for idensity is use the audiobus panel & make sure play is on & the spiky shape is red & your away,

OK spent a fun few hours with iPulsaret and finally getting somewhere. I've mangled synths, beats and vocals through AudioBus with quite pleasing results. Thanks for your help :-)

Good to hear... Sometimes all it takes is spending a bit of time hey :)

I did say press freeze with play on idensity but it works fine without it was just the sound i had coming in.On ipulsaret i put key on hold & it works fine, they should put a video out showing how to use it in effects, glad to hear Trueyorky got it going good & thanks Baddcr it was a problem of not knowing how to get the sound into the synth to apply effects.
