iTrigger for Ableton Live

Folks who ordered the Akai Ableton Push controller are getting very impatient waiting for them to arrive.

In the meantime POJ Studios are doing an end run around both Akai and Novation with iTrigger, a recreation of the Novation Launchpad that can actually be used like a Launchpad in Ableton!

iTrigger iTunes Description:

Use your iPad to mix wirelessly in Ableton Live!
Control Ableton Live and other music programs with MIDI over WiFi or USB. Launch Clips and Scenes, set levels and panning, make light shows!

Modes:

  • Clips - control clips in Ableton Live's Session View
  • Misc - control a variety of Live's track settings
  • d.rack and x-y - custom device control and configuration

Works with:

  • MIDI over Wireless Network (WiFi)
  • USB MIDI adapter and iPad camera kit
  • Most iPad MIDI interfaces/adapters
  • AirPlay for Video Streaming

Buy iTrigger on iTunes: $2.99 (On Sale, from $7.99)

Hey arnaud, thanks for buying the app. If you tap the settings button you will see the word 'View Setup Guide'. Tap those words and you'll be taken to a pdf that explains how to set it up for windows and osx (wireless is the way to go if you don't have an iPad midi accessory). I will be releasing a video later today that gives a quick rundown of the app's functionality so keep a lookout for it on our youtube channel. If you head over to our contact page http://pojstudios.com/contact/ drop me a line and I'll take you though the basics and/or email you to let you know when the video has been uploaded.

@POJ - Great customer support, help on other websites = 10/10

I would normally be very interested in this, but I use Lemur and am comfortable creating my own interfaces, is there a compelling reason to purchase this as well? e.g. something significantly more playable?

Hi Jean, thanks for buying the app. What version of Ableton are you using? Launchpad should automatically be listed as a control surface in versions 7.0.18+ and Live 8.0.6+. Downloading the latest version of Live from Ableton's website should solve your issue. If you would like to provide your email address on our contact page http://pojstudios.com/contact/ I can provide further assistance via email if it still isn't listed after updating.

Hey Baddcr, Lemur is a great app once you get the hang of it. A great feature of iTRIGGER is the ability to change between the different modes (clips mode, drum rack, track levels, panning, etc) and have the buttons map automatically for you. The movable 8x8 box outline in session view makes it easy to see which clips or tracks are being displayed by the app, making it very quick and easy to play your clips and adjust track properties. Hiding all the buttons against the black background and using Airplay to make light shows is pretty cool too. In x-y mode you can map the midi keys yourself to make a row of buttons set different levels for a single effect, or a single button to iterate through each level of an effect. It all depends what you want to use it for and whether Lemur already does what you need but I'm pretty sure you'd find this app useful too if not just as a dedicated clip launcher.
