and...the second opportunity this week (after audiobus) to revisit the Great Misunderstanding. Apple REALLY needs to address this issue...sooner rather than later. The app is listed by the developer, and presumably as required by Apple,as...compatible with various devices including ipads, and others on which it is not intended to run. despite the developers best effort to make clear the device requirements, no doubt someone will download it with different expectations, and subsequently direct an unjustifiable rant at the developer. so be forewarned, if you download it, it will not show up as an app available for ipad, only iphone/ipod touch, and will only run properly on the devices specified by the developer.
public service rant over.

But at that price it's worth "buying for stock" for when I upgrade my 3GS. In the meantime I can play at double size. Not sure if there's any advantage to having that as well as the big bro but...I suppose I've now got a 3 engine Magellan using MIDI!

Even tho the descriptions mentions presets being compatible with the iPad version I'm just gonna mention that goes for the Sunsine packs too if you are planing on getting em but is unsure about the iPhone compat. Tried both packs and all sounded the same to me.

Do I need this app? Absolutely not. Do I want it still? Of course! This is a great app.

note: my 'rant' above was only intended as a caution (mostly for newbies) against taking the silly apple compatibility list as gospel.
it wasn't the result of personal displeasure, just personal observation.
the app is definitely a must have...if you have the right equipment.

Yes, the presets are 100% compatible, thanks for testing that Chris!

Soooo tempting. Magellan is, as I've previously stated with enthusiasm here on this site, probably my favorite dedicated synth ('cept maybe Animoog, but really, how can anything fairly compare to that?). The thought of being able to run the app on my iPad AND iPod and having basically three synths simultaneously is, we'll, mind boggling. The only thing I'm curious about is if it's compatible with the Akai Synthstation, as that would be the only feasible way for me to interact with both at the same time (my iPad gets dibs on the full length keyboard via MIDI). Any word on this? Thanks in advance!

Oh, and if anybody is debating this and hasn't tackled Magellan before . . . Ooh baby, you don't know what you're missing out on. It's like the first time you ever had chocolate and peanut butter.

"...compatible with the Akai Synthstation?..."

On its own, no. But if you use midibridge, yes.
