Aphelian

playlist_add Wishlist

iTunes Description:

APHELIAN features a new kind of sequencer, based on a geometrical metaphor. The interface is composed of 4 independent instruments, distributed in the corners. Each instrument has a SHAPE that function as a TIMELINE.

The user can DRAW EVENTS in the TIMELINE to create melodies. The SHAPES are located over a NOTE MAP that defines the NOTE of each EVENT. The SHAPES can be easily transformed using gestures that take full advantage of the touch screen.

Any transformation in the SHAPE results in a predictable modification in the musical composition. APHELIAN offers an amazing balance between joyful exploration and accurate detail control, proposing an organic way to compose music.

Inspired by Johannes Kepler’s geometrical model of the solar system, where the planets play melodies as they orbit the sun assembling a cosmic symphony.

FEATURES
4 orbital sequencer engines.
1 Global Harmonic controller
4 Internal Synthesizers.
1 Internal Drum machine.

SUPPORTS: Inter App Audio, Ableton Link Sync, MIDI OUT per channel (Note on/off and Control Change), Audiobus and Audiobus State

pianoscaper

playlist_add Wishlist

iTunes Description:

Pianoscaper is a generative music app and virtual instrument that’s easy on the ears and fun to play. Launch the app, and with a single tap of the auto-play button, pianoscaper will create evolving and ambient soundscapes that are unique every time.

While all of the pianoscaper sounds originated from acoustic pianos, many have been extensively processed to create an “impossible piano” that can morph between orchestral-type swells and ethereal choir-like sounds. Think of it as piano DNA taken to the next level!

Pianoscaper in auto-play mode is the perfect companion for relaxing, studying or providing non-intrusive headphone music at work or on your commute. You can even set a timer so you can fall asleep to its gentle and soothing tones.

You can also play pianoscaper as a virtual instrument using the dedicated keypads and performance loop recorders, and tailor the sounds with built-in reverb, delay and “character” effects parameters. And while you’re playing, pianoscaper can lend a hand by adding auto-accompaniment parts and even provides hints for notes it thinks might sound good depending on which notes you play!

As a sample-based instrument, pianoscaper currently supports two “moods” – a happy mood, based on the G major pentatonic scale, and a sad mood, based on the Dm pentatonic scale. Please note that pianoscaper is not a chromatic or MIDI-compatible instrument, and it is unlikely to become one, although additional moods and scales may be added as free updates.

You can also record and process the audio output of pianoscaper using any Inter-App Audio host that supports IAA Generators.

You are free to use pianoscaper in your own recordings or live events and installations on a royalty-free basis. All I would ask for is a simple credit that includes the name of the app – “pianoscaper”.

I hope you will agree the pianoscaper interface, while minimalist and a perhaps a little cryptic initially, will eventually become very easy to use. Please do take the time to read the quick-start guide which can be found on the pianoscaper.com website. This is also the best place to ask questions, get technical support or report any issues.

Happy pianoscaping!

Quincy

playlist_add Wishlist

iTunes Description:

Quincy is a most unique music composition tool. Its modular approach to interpretation of cellular automata renders Life worlds in styles ranging from Balinese Gamelan music to that of Stockhausen. Auto-generated on-device, interactive music that sounds authentic and goes far beyond the mere triggering of note events or squeeky sine waves. Compositions in Quincy are visually and musically spellbinding and wonderfully strange. They can be looped, react to touch during play and can be shared via AirDrop, messaging and email.

Quincy’s core engine is a full implementation of Conway’s Game of Life, capable of generating all possible Life variants including HighLife and Seeds. It comes with a Life editor, a large library of patterns, color mixer, features an adjustable grid size, random cell insertion and many display options. Editing tools go beyond pen and pattern stamp and also include options like copy, paste and rotate.

Quincy ships with three sound modules (Chroma, Gregorian and Pentrix) with many more to come. Each module uses its own algorithm to create sound but also defines the key and a base scale to be used as tone material. The Chroma module is geared towards atonal music with several symmetric and chromatic scales. The Gregorian module employs church modes and the Pentrix module offers 27 types of pentatonic scales.

There are two playback modes, audio and MIDI. In audio mode playback is routed through a device’s speakers or headphones. This mode offers 128 instruments and adjustable reverb settings. MIDI over WiFi uses Bonjour for discovery of suitable MIDI destinations to seamlessly integrate Quincy’s output into any DAW like Logic or Ableton.

Quick Features
• Adjustable grid size
• Document based
• MIDI over WiFi
• Full general MIDI instrument library and adjustable reverb
• Performance view (iPad)
• Large pattern library
• File transfer via AirDrop, Email, Message and iTunes File Sharing
• Extensive documentation
• Inter-App Audio support
• Audiobus compatible
• Ableton Link integration

Quincy is very powerful and a joy to work with. Create infinite variations on a theme by combining playback loops with random inserts or use performance mode with one-tap document switching and the ability to draw into playing compositions without disturbing the original. Quincy renders stunning visuals, produces the craziest looking metronomes, very atmospheric soundscapes and strange rhythmic patterns that have many uses in music production.

Mobile Music Sequencer [US]

playlist_add Wishlist

iTunes Description:

Yamaha's Mobile Music Sequencer enables composers to combine a range of phrase patterns and create musical compositions intuitively, following the flow of composition, from phrases to sections and from sections to songs.
Wherever you are, you can now sketch the outline of a composition. In addition, you can use the ingredients to delicately craft songs on a Yamaha synthesizer, or in Steinberg Cubase.

First, try loading the demo song (a number of demo songs are provided). Tap on the settings icon in the top right of the screen, select [Digital Sympathy] from the Presets under the File tab, and press the Load button to read in the song.

Create a song right away as follows:

Step 1-Create phrases
You can choose from a rich selection of 382 preset phrases (the phrase is the smallest unit in the structure of a composition). Under Phrase in the View screen, tap on a cell in which no setting has been made, then tap on the Select button on the left. To listen to a preset phrase, tap on its name. It is also possible to use real-time recordings made using the keyboard within an application, or user phrases which have been created using piano roll input. Using the powerful Loop Remix function, it is possible to divide selected phrases at specified intervals and then order them randomly, automatically insert rolls or breaks, and thus rework them into new phrases.

Step 2-Create sections
Combine multiple phrases together to create a section. Phrases are arranged in a vertical block and playback is turned on and off using the Section button at the bottom of the screen. The phrases can be managed as a single unit.
By specifying codes for individual sections, you can easily create variations. Using the Create command you can also create a succession of new sections based on the phrase that is currently being played back, which allows production to proceed smoothly.

Step 3-Create Songs
Put together complete songs by pasting together sections. This is easily accomplished by touching the Section area and then just dragging and dropping sections into the data area. Naturally, you can also input sections by recording in real time or by using the piano roll screen.

Advantages
• Built-in software synth with 92 high-quality sounds (including 9 types of drumkit) enables faithful rendering of sequence patterns.
• Sound editing using filters, EG, and other effects
• Mixer function for each part
• Effects including reverb, chorus, and variations
• Additional phrases and sounds

*In case your purchased pack can't be transferred to the app, please tap the "Restore Purchases" button at the bottom of the purchase screen.
• File export
As well as a function for outputting standard general-purpose MIDI files, the application also includes a function for exporting files in an even easier-to-use format designed for Yamaha synths, in which characteristic sounds are specified in advance. (MOTIF XF, S90XS/S70XS, MOXF6/MOXF8, MOX6/MOX8, MX49/61, Tyros5 and MOTIF XS)
