What happens if I get a new iPhone or iPad?
The limited edition apps you have already acquired will remain in the app store so that you’ll always be able to download them as long as you have the same iTunes account.

What happens after the "app drop" release time is over?
The apps will remain in the App Store so that you may download updates. After the “app drop”, the price in the app store will go to the maximum price tier. As long as you keep the same iTunes account, you may download updates and copies to new devices for free!

Will the apps still be updated?
The apps will be updated for new iOS versions, to ensure that your limited edition apps continue to work as iOS technology progresses.

Will the apps support iPhone?
We will try to make most of these apps universal. We’re planning a free universal upgrade to the Bass 808 Synth. While the app is currently iPad only, an iPhone version is on the way and will be available while the app is still on sale.

Will there be open-source?
We plan on open-sourcing as much as we can. Some of the code developed for this app has already been added to AudioKit for all developers to use in their projects, free of charge.

Are you still working on your existing apps?
Yes! We are still working on improving all our apps, including Synth One, D1, and FM2. The technology developed as a part of these limited edition apps will help improve all our apps.

More details about this app:

Brandon Rico Simpson did the official promo video, but like most of Brandon's videos it sounds like shit because he's trying to record off his speakers with the camera mic. The error is especially grievous in this instance because the low bass tones are all distorted. Distorted shit. Hearing this video makes me sad.

Let's Play with FRMS

One common mistake that new YouTubers make is in apologizing for a performance at the start of the video. They'll say things like, "oh this is my first time doing this..." or have a description that is deprecating of their results. Sometimes this is just false modesty, but an apology will color how the performance is received.

Nothing is wrong with this video. In fact, everything is wonderful! How are you doing? Did you sleep well?

Video Description:

Imaginando brings us an impressive combination of granular and traditional synthesis in a powerhouse combination. This video is a bit unlike others in this series. Due to the complexity of FRMS, I didn't try going into this with a clear plan. I just wanted to document the sound design process. Which honestly turned into a train wreck that lasted over an hour. I've done some aggressive editing on this to bring it down to less than 30 minutes.

I think it still retains all of the essential information. I hope it reveals that the process of creating a patch doesn't always go smoothly, but if you take your time and explore you will be rewarded! I love the final result!

App Sales: Bring Out Your Freebies

Arturia remembered that they made an Arturia iSpark app today, and made it free to everyone! It seems like they had forgotten about it entirely since 2017. Alto Sax Prompter is a study aid for learning to play the Alto Sax, which has seen regular updates over the years, and is now free today! They're joined by some decent sales on Keystage, the FAC effects (mostly the macOS versions), and Fader Command!

Since iSpark hasn't changed at all in the intervening years, here's a 36 year old Jakob Haq showing off the app. This is from when he had joined forces with The Sound Test Room, and before his first grey hairs.

FHTH - Untouchable

YouTuber FHTH takes advantage of the pandemic to go play in traffic. If you do this at night in the rain it increases the difficulty of playing in traffic, but gives you cool synthwave vibes. #YOLO

FHTH is electronic project from Ukraine.

AudioLayer Update

AudioLayer, from VirSyn, was updated with automatic multi-sampling! This works with external MIDI, or with other apps via IAA/AU, and is really impressive to watch in the demo. It automatically sends the MIDI notes with varying velocities to capture the instrument you want to sample!

What's new in AudioLayer v1.2.0:

- Automatic multi-sampling of external instruments (MIDI / IAA / AU) using the AudioLayer Music Effect AU
