  • New Effects: Delay, Distortion, Ring Mod, Low Pass Filter, Reverb
  • Effects Assignable to Performance X/Y Pads
  • Effects Automation Editor and Live Read/Write
  • Performance Improvements
  • Offset for Cuts
  • Added Waveform view to iPhone/iPod Touch
  • Bug Fixes

Buy GlitchBreaks on iTunes: $4.99

The sonic potential these effects add cannot be understated. Unfortunately there is no video demonstrating them yet.

Here is a masterpiece of glitch, by Zviij, using GlitchBreaks and 3 KaossPads. The effects in the new version GlitchBreaks eliminate the need for all of that extra gear. Okay, maybe not all of it, but at least it will eliminate the need for the KaossPad Quad!

The Wablet

CDM has an article up about the new Wablet, a Scanned Synthesis app from Robert Tubb. Similar to Wavetable Synthesis, The Wablet "scans" through pitch and timbre independently. This simulates slow vibrations in the real world, playing on the way human physical control and hearing work. It looks and sounds quite cool, but is unavailable in the US due to some patent bullshit.

iTunes Description:

The Wablet is a physics based synthesiser and noise toy. An animated mesh of springs can be vibrated with the fingers. A path around this mesh is read as into an audio waveform, and hence your gestures are turned into sound. Complex evolving drones, chiptunes bleeps or full on noise can be produced, and beautiful undulating patterns created.

The physical properties of the mesh can be changed using the sliders, new sound-paths can be drawn onto the Mesh and the App comes with a Max/MSP patch for wireless MIDI control and more in depth adjustable parameters.

Buy The Wablet on iTunes: £0.69 (Non-US Only)

The Max for Live patch is available on Robert's website.

Here is a demo of the app, which gets really interesting about 40 seconds in when he starts to drag the mesh around.
