« iDensity »

iDensity is an interesting take on granular synthesis, in a straight-forward package. All of your controls are presented on one page with a series of sliders to control things like grain size and randomization. I found it to be pretty fun for drones, but without any MIDI or even an on-screen keyboard, drones are pretty much what you'll be limited to. If you want musicality in your granularity you should consider SampleWiz or Curtis; both of which offer on-screen keyboards and AudioCopy/Paste. Watch a full review here.

Disclosure: I received my copy for review from apeSoft.

Tim should really give this app another look, as it has gotten much better recently and is far above the "meh" rating it has here. It's absolutely top notch for creating new sounds out of samples, and really excels if you're into making ambient or experimental music.

totally agree with the analyses above. it is not a generator like both samplewiz and curtis seem to be in selecting a part of something its fed and then playing it over a keyboard, this is a granular synthesis processor similar to an effect. very different workflow with a clean interface and full midi implementation possibilities of almost every switch, pot, or fader...
