Genome MIDI Sequencer offers the capabilities missing in other apps, and let's them all play together at the same tempo. The primary function, as a sequencer, is well designed, with gesture navigation to move around fluidly. The MIDI output is feature rich, able to communicate not only with MIDI hardware (through CoreMIDI/Camera Connection Kit, Line6 Mobilizer Mk I & II) but also with other apps that support Virtual MIDI. There is even the ability to record MIDI from other Apps for custom sequencing later! See it in action and get an idea for how to set up your virtual MIDI routing in this tutorial.

Disclosure: I received my copy for review from White Noise Audio.

My anticipation for Genome was huge in my earliest days with my new iPad3 a few weeks ago, searching for good sequencer software to use with other apps.
But my anticipation were not fulfilled by Genome. :(
It's a great piece of software for working with patterns that you've programmed, changing which ones are active in a 'live' format. But, that's ... not my way of composing, which basically killed Genome's usefulness to me.
I've composed in a fairly serial like format since before purchasing my first sequencer software in 1986 for the Atari ST. Now - I don't remember the details exactly anymore, the weeks later since I last worked with Genome but ... it's not very capable of allowing me to compose easily, in that way.
For that reason, Genome, i-Sequence and Brain Sequence, all failed, in different ways. Though, they're all being kept 'alive' in my iPad3, hoping on future updates from all of them.
(Oh - and Fruity Studio or whatever was called - outside of providing me a couple of drum samples to use, was completely written off, due to it's uselessness in composing in my ol' timer's way of doing things. :P )

This is a very useful app but I just wanted to point out to readers that not all apps are compatible with Genome. This is no fault of the developer but instead highlights shortcomings of other apps that do not support core MIDI. The developer has a list of compatible apps, although I've had some success with apps not on the list. Check it out at: http://www.whitenoiseaudio.com/apps/genome-midi-sequencer/apps-compatible-with-genome-midi/.
Here is a GREAT tutorial for Genome: http://discchord.com/blog/2012/4/7/genome-midi-sequencer-update.html
