Two of the best things I've discovered on your YouTube feeds are My Drunk Kitchen and this video from recent subscriber Stacy Puckett. I am floored by the effort he put into this video, which was composed in the YouTube Capture web app. Effort is so much more important than expensive video software!

I contacted developer Weibin Shen to figure out what is going on with this powerful and free chord recognition app. He's turning the project over to his friend Xiao Yixiang and his company, EUMLab which makes several related apps like DAW Remote and Pro Tuner. EUMLab will now maintain the app, and at present it is still free!

Weibin wants to make sure everyone deletes the old one and moves over to the new app so that you will get future updates.

Chordec does chord recognition for songs from your iOS device. Its algorithm has the highest accuracy among published algorithms till at least the end of 2012.

Chord recognition accuracy under default "chordec sensitivity":
• 80% if counting only major and minor chords,
• 65% if counting only maj, min, aug, dim, 7, maj7 and min7

Load a song from your iOS device, and chordec solves the chord for you. You can then learn the chord using the speed-variable playback. Can't figure out how to rewind or fast forward? Move the cursor or scroll/zoom the tape to navigate to anywhere in the song.

I'm not sure what he used for editing, but he was using Display Recorder for the video and the audio is from recording inside of Traktor itself.

Video Description:

The mix, video and audio have been created and edited in the iPad 3 without using computer... there are some mistakes, but it doesn't matter, because it's been in real time.
You can see how you can use the Traktor DJ for iPad!

Affinity Blue, the developer of NodeBeat, has made their tuner/metronome app free for a very limited time as part of the Free App A Day program!

iTunes Description:

Tunable is a chromatic tuner, tone/chord generator and metronome that helps you learn to play steadily, in tune, and on beat. Featuring a unique “tuning history” display for visualizing pitch over time, Tunable is the perfect toolkit for professional and beginning musicians.

Learn to play in tune with sustained pitch history

Visualize how steadily you play or sing. As notes are held out, a white line draws how steady the pitch is. The straighter the line, the more consistent the pitch.

Improve your ear with tone and chord generator

Need a reference tone or chord? Use the tone and chord generator to play and sustain chords with various tone options. Choose from different temperaments to hear how they compare.

Keep tempo with an accurate and simple metronome

See the pulse with a visual metronome. View subdivision and current beat, with a large display and visual flash.
