Moog Officially Supports Audiobus

Moog has come out in support for Audiobus in both Animoog and Filtatron!

I don't usually like to report on what developers say they might do, but this is big! I know a lot of people were hoping for this one! The first thing I thought of when I saw the Effect slot in Audiobus was, "Oh please, Moog, let me put Filtatron in there!"

When StewD made the same request on the Official Moog forums, he got a reply! Amos Gaynes simply said:

"OK"

I'm so excited! Filtatron is a great app, but I've always wanted to be able to run a live input from iOS Synths through it.

Thanks to reader DSWO, for bringing this to my attention!

Fantastic; if Moog jumps on board, I think it's a safe bet that pretty much everyone else will too. There's still no sign of what Apple's inter-app audio will look like, as far as I know, so we might as well forge ahead. I'm planning on full support for it in my apps (*cough* once the Audiobus team releases the SDK to the unwashed masses such as myself...).

In other news, it looks like Apple has killed the pathMajorRadius hack in the iOS 6 SDK, which makes me wonder what will happen with things like Orphion. Apple giveth, Apple taketh away.... Getting info on the size of a touch is such a cool feature, and I really don't understand why it's not a formal part of the API.

Hey Fessaboy,

Have you found any traces of the mysterious inter-app audio stuff that was part of that mysterious slide in the WWDC presentation? Also: thanks for being patient about the SDK. We just don't have that much time to communicate with all of the hundreds of developers who have signed up to get access to the SDK. Once the first group is finished and tested, you'll get access to it right away.

Sebastian -- no sign of inter-app that I know of. It seems like an obvious thing that Apple could (and should) add, but....

And I totally understand having limited distribution on the beta SDK -- probably lots of things getting tweaked and changing, and the last thing you need is hundreds of people pestering you. I'm looking forward to it, though, and as the great philosopher Tom Petty said, the waiting is the hardest part.

I am absolutely thrilled with this news. I have always wanted to use Animoog to record longer songs, and I've also wanted background audio on Filtatron, so this makes my fingers and ears very happy. Once again Moog, you rock. Cannot wait for Audiobus!

Cool! I don't have Filtatron, but I love the sound of Animoog...hope that'll support Audiobus.

RE: the mysterious 'inter-app audio' slide...

I did some Googling on it the past couple weeks, and I got the impression it MIGHT be more about routing the audio path through multiple HW outputs (e.g. air, headphone jack, docking port) than it was about 'inter-app'. BTW, I'm not a developer, and I could be completely wrong in my interpretation!
