Meteor Multitrack Recorder update extends Drum Polyphony

Reader Nuno pointed out that Meteor Multitrack just got a minor update, increasing the polyphony of the drum parts.

I think it is really great that this "Recorder" app includes so many virtual instruments as part of the deal! I haven't played with it yet though. Leave a comment, if you've played with it, and let us know how it is.

Here is a demo from Marcus over at MusicApps.com.br, playing with the virtual instruments. He starts off with the drums being triggered by a MIDI keyboard.

Figure updated with Song Save & Export

Propellerhead has updated Figure with a couple of the community's biggest requests! You can now save your jamming as a song, for reloading later! There is even an export option to render an audio file for iTunes File Sharing.

This update also adds new loop lengths. Previously you were limited to a 2 bar loop, but now you can select loops of 1, 2, 4, or 8 bars. I was playing around with this a lot and they handled it pretty well. If you make a little pattern on 2 bars, but then shift the length up to 8, it will copy the 2 bars to fill in the new length.

If you have a multi-bar pattern, and reduce the length, you will lose the pattern information that is no longer in the loop. For instance, let's say you have a 4 Bar pattern with a flourish of crashes on the 4th bar. Then you reduce it to a 2 bar pattern, and then back to 4, you will only have whatever was in the first 2 bars and won't hear the crashes. This makes sense, and I'm not complaining, but I thought it was worth pointing out. Now that you can save your work, you can experiment without fear!

Sunsine Audio releases Snowflake for Arctic

Sunsine has a lot of news today! They have just released a new preset pack, Snowflake, which includes 64 new presets for Arctic Keys. I've heard some complaints about the factory presets in Arctic, but half the problem is they were mostly community submissions... without any normalization. Volumes can vary wildly, since every single designer had a different monitoring environment.

Sunsine's Snowflake should be easier to work with, and their demo has some nice analogue-sounding fun for the ears.

Snowflake is available now on Sunsine's website for $2.49.

Additionally, Sunsine are now offering a bundle to purchase all iOS packs, including the GlitchBreaks loops, for one price at $19.99. Find complete details on their iOS Bundle page, and check out this epic song, from iOS Music & You blogger Chip Boaz. He makes use of nothing but presets from the Sunrizer, Animoog, Cassini, and DXi packs!
