Let's Play with SynthMaster One

While the original SynthMaster Player enjoyed a lot of popularity, I was always disappointed that we didn't have the full version on iOS. All of that changed last week with the release of SynthMaster One! This is a full port of the desktop synth, with all of the synthy bits exposed for play. So... Let's Play with it!

Contest: I have 3 copies of SynthMaster One to give away! This post is going up on Thursday as a Patron Early Access Screening. The winning codes will go out on Saturday. This gives non-patrons a chance to enter on Friday, but they're going to have to be fast because I'm closing this early Saturday morning.

Contest closed! Congratulations to jimhanks, colorofdubious, and Frozen Lonesome!

Video Description:

KV331's first iOS app, SynthMaster Player, came out 3 years ago as a way for people to explore popular SynthMaster presets. But it lacked all of the fun synthesis elements. Finally we get the full version of SynthMaster on iOS with SynthMaster One!

If you've enjoyed this series please consider supporting it by becoming a Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/discchord If you'd prefer to help on a monthly basis, instead of per video, there is a monthly Patreon campaign: https://www.patreon.com/discchord_com (Patrons of both campaigns get the same benefits, including Ad Free viewing on the site!)

Neato! I've been waiting for this one.
Thanks for this! You messed with the arp a little bit, I was hoping you would get to the vertical bands in there. Do you know what they are and how to interact with those?

According to the manual they are note volume, and with a mouse. LOL! The manual says to use your mouse to click on the edge and then use your mouse scroll wheel to adjust. I assume they missed that bit and will be addressing it in the future.

The way I've been using it is to go through the presets to find a groove I like, and then copy that to a new preset where I can input my own notes with the same pattern/groove.
Commenting to enter. :)
Count me in, Tim. Would be a very welcome addition to my collection.
I'd love to win this

Do I need another synth? Fuck, no! Would I take this for the low, low price of 'free'? Fuck, yes! Would I also, in the next 7-10 days, construct an elaborate justification for buying it at full price? Also fuck, yes!

The more I’ve been learning LayR, the more I keep telling myself I’ll never need another non-modular synth.

At least that’s what I tell myself.

I thought Mood would be the one... but it crashes a lot
I thought KASPAR would be the one, but the inability to audition presets/layers when combin8ng makes it too difficult to use.

LayR just blows my mind. I’ve been thinking of getting a Virus C, but I think I may just get a new gen IPad and use it for LayR. Cheaper, more power, and amazing sounds.
History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man
In for the win!

Several people are posting as unregistered users. The site won't track that. You need to register for your submission to count. It is part of the anti-cheating system to prevent multiple submissions from the same person. Just go register first... I tried to make that process as fast and painless as possible!
Me too, if it please you sir...
Would love to win this. Always liked the original Synthmaster Player.

Thanks for doing this video. I can see why people get excited about this full version over the player.

Sign me up for the giveaway. Use Synthmaster on my Mac but would love to have a more portable version!

Terrible user interface. Couldn’t be bothered with that waveform selection, really puts you off from experimenting. Tap, tap, tap, tap, folder, group, subfolder etc just to change waveform.

Pick me please. ;)

Looks like it has a lot of potential. I’d love to give it a run-through.
Sweet!

I also noticed that changes you make to the arp/sequencer are not in effect until you hit new notes. So holding a few keys down with hold is not an option while you are fiddling with the settings. That's somewhat of a bummer.
This synth is a good one!
Great video ! I would be glad to have this synth :-)
