After a lengthy limited release, the Audiobus 3 SDK is now available to all developers starting today!
Hello fellow developers,
We have launched the SDK for Audiobus 3!
In short: AB 3 SDK here. Documentation here. Register your Audio Unit Extensions here. Have fun!
Here's a list of the new features of Audiobus 3:
Audiobus 3 is a new stand-alone app (Audiobus 2 will still be available) and requires requires iOS 10.2.1 and compatible devices.
- Support for Audio Unit Extensions
- An entirely new way to set up MIDI connections between apps
- Background Launching for Apps with the new Audiobus 3 SDK
- A built in, simple to use input mixer
- Improved Preset Management
- Support for split view on newer iOS devices
Audiobus 3 is compatible with the Audiobus 2 SDK, but we highly recommend you update your apps to the newest SDK to make use of background launching and to work with MIDI.
The Audiobus 3 SDK is compatible with both Audiobus 2 and Audiobus 3, and works on iOS 8 and up.
If you're the developer of a MIDI controller app, the new Audiobus MIDI system allows Audiobus users to set up MIDI connections between apps and Audio Unit Extensions just like they do with audio connections: with an input, effect, output paradigm. Your users will love it. Check out this demo video to find out more.
Audio Unit Extensions
If your app already supports Audio Unit Extensions or if you have an app that provides an Audio Unit Extension but has no Audiobus support yet, our developer portal has been updated: Now you can list those apps as well so they get exposure on our Compatible Apps directory.
The Good Stuff
Here's a link to the SDK (or get it via the 'audiobus' Cocoapod).
And here's a link to the SDK documentation – be sure to read the migration guide, in particular.
