Jakob Haq posted an inspiring video showing a side-by-side of his recent Why We Fight live performance. He illustrates here how all of it was done with just one take and some creative editing in LumaFusion.
Creativity is key here. I have to reject between 3-6 videos every single day because the creativity stopped when the song was done. Here are a couple of examples that I rejected today. Duaa - Shanghai is an interesting Hindi track done in GarageBand, but the video is basically just a still image. I'd love to feature some of this Dub Duo, but they're not recording the music line-in, and the camera is getting wobbled by the bass; causing the digital image stabilization to create weird-ass wavy motion. I know how much people want to get their music heard, so I hate having to reject videos. Please keep the creative process flowing into your videos!
Why a comparison? During my visit at the MMM symposium in Berlin, I was asked how many takes I had to piece together to produce the Why We Fight LaunchPad music video. Fact is that the video isn't put together from different takes. The original video is just one take from beginning to end. I just cut up the original footage in LumaFusion and added video fx to the different slices. It is amazing what we can create when we've got access to the right type of tools.
