NAMM is here! Get ready for lots of new gear announcements!
NAMM is the North American Music Merchants convention, or more accurately known as Not Available Maybe May. This is one of the largest trade shows in the world for music gear and goodies. Although it doesn't start until tomorrow, there are already a lot of announcements and promos coming out this week!
IK MultiMedia has announced, in addition to their product line from CES2013, the new iLoud stereo speakers. Designed to be battery operated, these claim to be the "first portable stereo studio monitors."
The larger of the two not only packs a lot of sound in a tiny space, but there is also a complete iRig guitar interface in there somewhere. This will allow you to connect your guitar through the iLoud and into your iDevices and then back out through the speaker. The mini only has a single stereo jack for input.
These are expected to be available sometime in the second quarter of this year (Not Available, Maybe May?) and will be priced $299.99 / €239.99 for the large one, $199.99 / €159.99 for the mini. Here is a promo video for the entire 2013 IK product line.
I am loath to post to videos with the audio coming from a camera mic, but I'll make an exception for this exceptional convergence of mobile music tech! Armed with this faithful old Gameboy running NanoLoop, a new Korg mini KaossPad 2, his iPad running Magellan, and a flair for dramatic sounding music, Pandurris has a nice little mobile studio setup!
DM1 Drum Machine has been updated with Audiobus support!
The update is now available for both the iPhone and iPad versions.
This was an excellent excuse for me to revisit the app. I am still impressed by the quality of the samples in here! It is nice to be able to make more meaningful use of them now, without having to fuck around with AudioCopy.
Although DM1 won't take a MIDI Clock sync, it will listen to MIDI Clock Start/Stop sent to the MIDI Network Session, so you can sort of sync it up with other apps using something like Genome to start everything.
