Jazz Transposer for iPad is a new melody transposer which allows you to import your own favorite song melodies for transposition. It does this from within the app, providing links to sound libraries that gleefully ignore the stupider parts of copyright law; rather than forcing you to hunt them down yourself, or charge you exorbitant IAPs.
Jazz Transposer iTunes Description:
Jazz Transposer’s functionality is targeted at performing musicians and is uniquely positioned for that all-too-common scenario of the “guest singer” and his/her awkward key choice!! “I’d like to do ‘When The Saints Go Marching In’ in Db”. While plenty of Apps will quickly provide the appropriate chord sequence, only Jazz Transposer will instantly display the melody AND the chords in the new key.
Because most (useful) melodies are protected by copyright, Jazz Transposer cannot provide such files in the purchase, however the internet if full of usable files and Jazz Transposer is able to import these and store them directly into your song list. Indeed Jazz Transposer will read any MusicXML file including your own compositions as long as they are in XML format.
To start filling your song list within a minute or two of your purchase of Jazz Transposer, click on the shopping cart icon, select a download from the list (we have provided links to some popular song libraries for you, many of which are free of charge) and click “Download”.
To start using Jazz Transposer, click on “Songs”, select a title, choose the instrument you are playing, C, Bb, Eb etc and the key which your band is playing it in. The score will display in your key and now you can play it comfortably with your band!
You can build, edit and copy set lists which will remember your selected keys.
If your transposition takes the melody out of range for your instrument, just touch the “octave” button and bring it back into your comfort zone.
