This is a great 5 minute tutorial. Mee's speaking throughout, in addition to captions, and his puppy makes a lot of cameos.
Unity Synthesizer was released last month, to pretty terrible iTunes Reviews. I had tried to reserve judgement, because although the app contains a $50 IAP to fully unlock it, they at least come out with it and show that in one of the iTunes screenshots instead of hiding the actual cost. That is very sporting of them, and I respect that.
Unfortunately, two updates later, it still looks like shit.
Unity synthesizer can create professional quality synth sounds with on screen or external MIDI keyboard. The base configuration includes two synth engines (Retro AS-1 analog and Unity DS-1 sample playback) and twenty three audio effects, along with seven sound banks including General MIDI, Best of Retro AS-1, Pipe Organ, Rock Pop drum and percussion loops banks. An arpeggiator, sequencer, and scales can be used for real-time MIDI playback.
Additional in-app purchases include sound libraries and banks, synth and effects parameter editors, appearances, arpeggiators, sequences, and scales.
Fourteen synthesis engines along with twenty three audio effects are part of the complete package. All synthesizer, modulation, and effects parameter editing is supported to edit existing sounds, or create your own new ones. User banks can be stored to iCloud, allowing you to access your custom sounds from all of your iOS devices.
From the description it sounds like an amazing synth, but from the iTunes reviews it seems the presentation isn't the only problem.
Excellent suggestion, pighood.
The popular Chordbot app has been updated with Audiobus! Although I haven't used it, I've heard great things about it!
Chordbot is a songwriting tool / electronic backup band that lets you experiment with advanced chord progressions and arrangements quickly and easily.
Use it for songwriting experiments, as accompaniment when learning new songs or as a backup band for your guitar/saxophone/theremin solos. Just add some chords, select a comping style and hit play.
Chordbot creates songs by applying sequenced instrument templates to the chords you select. This gives a much more dynamic and controllable result than using prerecorded loops.
What's new in 2.0.5:
Audiobus support, "Open in" support for MIDI and WAV files, optional export fade out, general performance and stability fixes.
There are a lot of videos on YouTube for it, but most of them are terrible. For fucks sakes guys, hold your iPhone in landscape when using it to record video! Despite the troubles this causes me, I think it is a good sign to see so many terrible videos. That means it is inspiring people who are not used to making videos, to make videos showing it off!
Here is one of the better ones! This is featuring the Android version, which like the Lite version, does not have Audiobus.
Everyone always packs every app with the same Roland 808 and 909 samples, but there were other equally quirky drum machines of that era! This sample pack has been converted for use in both NanoStudio and BeatMaker 2, to add some variety to your music.
STIX305 - Waveshaper
The SoundMaster Stix 305 is a very rare analogue drum machine from the early eighties. You get both the cheesy, mellow sound of the psychedelic 70s, plus the acid hats of the 80s ! This WaveShaper sample pack is a quite unique occasion to meet this very little known and lovely beat box. Your tracks will get a great retro sound, whether you are an electronic funk producer, and acid freak or a true analogue sound lover.
The Stix305 was recorded using some tube preamp and compressor and a vintage eq on top of it to keep the analogue vibe on the full recording chain.
